The Couillard government wants voters to help them trim public spending.

Treasury Board President Martin Coiteux announced Tuesday a website where citizens can offer their comments and suggestions.

The site is currently French-only, but a spokesperson for the minister said it will be bilingual within a week.

Taxpayers are asked to identify the programs and agencies they feel have lost their relevance.

At a press conference, Coiteux again stressed how urgent it is to get the province’s finances in order.

He said extending funding for current programs is “hardly compatible with the return of a zero deficit.” The Liberals say they need to cut $3.2 billion in spending in order balance Quebec's budget.

In March, a government commission was formed to develop a cost-cutting strategy.

The commission will take public input into account and release a first set of recommendations in October.
