A 26-year-old man is lucky to be alive after he crashed his car in a tree Sunday night.

The car nearly split in half with the impact, but the driver’s injuries are not life-threatening.

It happened Sunday night at 11 p.m. at the intersection of Perras Blvd. and Leger Blvd. in Montreal-North.

Police said that speed or alcohol were not the cause of this spectacular crash. They are looking into the possibility of a mechanical malfunction or perhaps the driver falling asleep at the wheel.
