It didn't take long for the Las Vegas Golden Knights to start making trades.

On Thursday the team traded defenceman David Schlemko to the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for a fifth-round draft pick in 2019.

Schlemko was acquired by the Knights earlier this week in the team's expansion draft, where it got to pick members from each team in the NHL.

Schlemko is 30 years old. Last season he scored two goals in the regular season, and two in the playoffs, with the San Jose Sharks.
