Montreal police are scouring an area near Ontario and Moreau streets after finding a woman in critical condition.
A passerby called 9-1-1 at 5:45 a.m. Tuesday to report the woman lying in the area near the train tracks that run to the Port of Montreal.
She was rushed to hospital in critical condition, and at this point police do not know if she was badly beaten or if she had a nasty fall.
Officers have not been able to speak to her but hope to do so later in the day.
Nobody seems to have witnessed the attack but the woman is reportedly known to frequent the area.
