Ottawa police have arrested a man wanted in Montreal for attempted murder.

Police say they were contacted by Montreal police on Saturday, informing them that 19-year-old Rashawn Hamilton was believed to be in Ottawa.

Police say they located the suspect and arrested him early Sunday morning, and he remains in police custody in Ottawa.

Hamilton was wanted in connection with an incident that occurred on July 18, 2014, when a 23-year-old man was stabbed in an alleyway on Crescent on a Thursday morning at 2:20 a.m. He survived. Montreal police said that they will issue their names Monday.

Montreal police received a tip that led to the same-day arrests of two other men, aged 18 and 20, on Jan. 13. They have appeared in court.

Montreal police are travelling to Ottawa to escort Hamilton back to Montreal to face attempted murder charges in court Monday.

Montreal police said that they would issue a photo of the accused Monday after he is transported back to Montreal and appears in court.
