A Laval school hit by a fire Sunday night will be open to students on Monday.

A fire began at Saint Norbert Elementary school, at 66th Ave. and Cartier Blvd. West, at 11 p.m. Sunday.

Laval firefighters were able to extinguish the flames rather quickly, and determined that the fire had been deliberately set by someone who placed a burning object next to a wall.

Damage is estimated at $50,000, but it's not significant enough to affect classes.

The police arson squad in Laval is now investigating the fire.
