The number of arrests made inside the Montreal courthouse has jumped following the installation of a massive new security system.
The system, which was installed at the beginning of the summer, includes new metal detectors and x-ray machines to examine bags.
In the period between June 28 to July 14, 47 people were caught with drugs or prohibited weapons. Police made 36 drug seizures and seized 11 weapons during that time.
In the first six months of 2016, 96 people were arrested for similar reasons.
