Jordi Antunes Barros, 18, has been charged in Montreal court on a series of charges related to a collection of explosives seized Saturday in his Cartierville home.
Barros and family were deeply shaken as he appeared in court to face the charges.
“He faces basically, possession of explosive substance, four counts of those kinds of infractions,” said his attorney Valerie Rivest.
Barros, who lives in his family's basement, is said to have mental health issues and was ordered to undergo psychological assessment by the judge.
The results will dictate whether he will be granted bail on Tuesday and if so, under what conditions.
“Its a specialist that will meet him tomorrow to know if there is a mental issue, I will meet him tomorrow morning before his appearance in court,” said Rivest.
