St. Jerome MNA Pierre Karl Peladeau has chosen another target on his Facebook page, as the media mogul and likely PQ leadership candidate has taken aim at CAQ leader Francois Legault.

Early Monday morning Peladeau posted an essay denouncing Legault for endorsing what Peladeau describes as a “crazy” motion to force him to relinquish control of the Quebecor media conglomerate.

Peladeau cites the federal and provincial charters of rights and freedoms in his argument against the motion, which did not mention him personally but would bar MNAs from owning media outlets.

Legault’s CAQ was behind the motion, which Peladeau argues is excessive and a violation of human rights.

If the bill were to become law, Peladeau notes, his wife would have to cede control of her production house, Productions J.

“It would help if Legault would consult lawyers before putting on a show,” Peladeau writes.

“Legault should know that we live within a system of law and there’s a Quebec Charter of Rights and Freedoms which protects against abuse. As he loves Canada, he could also refer to the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.”

Peladeau cites sections 3 and 4, freedom of assocation and the right to dignity, among other sections that he says support his rights to continue his role in both media ownership and politics.
