A major fire has sent one person to the hospital in Hochelaga-Maisonneuve.

Firefighters received a call just before 10 p.m. about an explosion on Rouen St., near Darling.

The fire broke out on the second floor of a four-storey building and the cause is still unknown, according to a fire department spokesperson.

A 57-year-old man was rushed to hospital with third-degree burns to 60 per cent of his body after he ran out of the apartment on fire. A neighbour helped extinguish the flames on his body.
