Police are investigating after a man was shot dead in a Cote-des-Neiges Rd. penthouse Saturday afternoon.
They received a call from a woman at about 2:15 p.m. who said her friend, a man in his 30s, was dead or badly injured, said Montreal police media relations officer Daniel fortier.
The victim was found face down on the ground in the home on Cote-des-Neiges Rd. at Summerhill Ave.
"There was a lot of blood in the place," said Fortier. "The victim was shot at least one time in the upper body."
Montreal police homicide squad was at the scene Saturday afternoon, investigating the event. Urgences Sante also remained at the scene.
This is the third shooting incident in the Montreal area within 24 hours. On Friday night, two men were shot -- one of them fatally -- outside the east end shopping mall Galeries d'Anjou. Early Saturday morning, a man who is known to police was shot in his car in the Chomedey district of Laval. Both of those cases are thought to be linked to organized crime.
Police could not confirm if this latest shooting is linked to the other two, or if the man was connected to organized crime.
"For the moment we don’t have any details about the victim here," said Fortier.
