A 32-year-old man in Gaspé has been shot after an altercation with two Surete du Quebec officers.

At around 4:00 a.m., the officers confronted the man in a commercial parking lot. The man rushed at them with a blunt object. In response, the officers fired their weapons, hitting the man at least once.

Police said his life is not in danger.

The exact circumstances of what transpired have not been revealed. The province’s bureau of independent investigators has taken over the investigation.
