A 43-year-old man died of his injuries overnight after being shot in Pointe Aux Trembles.

Police say the victim was at the wheel of a car on Notre Dame St. East, near 8th Ave., when he was struck by at least one bullet.

Sources say he is Martin Garand.

First responders rushed to the scene at 10 p.m. Monday and the man was taken to hospital, where he died of his injuries.

Police scoured the area for clues overnight as heavy rain fell.

They remained on the scene Tuesday morning, with the major crimes unit and the canine squad investigating the area and talking to people who live in the neighbourhood.

This is the sixth murder of the year in Montreal.
