The Surete du Quebec is investigating a double murder in Terrebonne overnight.

The bodies of a 37-year-old man and 36-year-old woman were found by police inside a car in a parking lot on Charles Edouard Renaud St. at 2:30 a.m.

They are believed to have been shot and killed.

“It was local Terrebonne police who noticed the car when they were patrolling in the area,” said SQ spokesperson Christine Coulombe. “When they approached the vehicle, they could see two distinct bullet holes in the front windshield.”

Coulombe said both victims are known to police.

"We were talking about a suspicious death at the beginning but now we can confirm it's a homicide," said Coulombe.

Two bullet holes can be seen in the car's windshield.

The SQ is handling the investigation into what is being called a double homicide, said spokesperson Christine Coulombe.

A mobile forensics lab arrived at the scene; a short street is in an industrial area of La Plaine, on Wednesday morning to assist investigators.

Investigators also hope surveillance cameras will offer some clues.

Police have not yet released the identities of the two bodies.

Autopsies will be performed in the coming days.
