A Montreal lawyer, convicted on gangsterism and drug-trafficking charges, has been disbarred, the Quebec Bar Association has announced.
The bar's executive committee says the decision was made to protect the public from Louis Pasquin.
The 49-year-old has been a lawyer for more than 20 years, representing many gang and mafia members.
The Surete du Quebec arrested Pasquin in March of 2006 during an operation that targeted a drug-trafficking ring.
Pasquin acted as a liaison between the leader of the ring and a pilot who allegedly made cocaine runs.
