MONTREAL - The RCMP, SQ and Montreal police carried out a raid Thursday afternoon at an industrial park near Cavendish and the Trans Canada, as part of a U.S. investigation.

The Federal Trade Commission, based in Cleveland, Ohio, asked for the assistance of the RCMP Commercial Crime Colt Section, which specializes in telemarketing fraud cases.

It was joined by Surete du Quebec, Montreal police and some Federal Trade Commission officers in Thursday afternoon's raid.

Several people were arrested and evidence was gathered but the RCMP would give few details about the case, as they are not the lead investigators.

The name of the company targeted by the raids is being withheld.

The RCMP spokesperson told CTV Montreal that it is not clear if those arrested will be held or released to appear at a later date.
