The 911 calls placed the night of the January fire at the l'Isle Verte seniors’ home have been released, and they offer some insight into what happened.

The alarm first went off at 12:22 a.m. that morning, prompting a call from the alarm company's control centre to the seniors’ home.

A very panicked security guard picks up and the fire alarm can be heard going off in the background.

The alarm company representative asks if the guard has called emergency responders.

The guard says no, but says he wants them to come assist then hangs up the phone.

At that point, the alarm company employee calls 911. The operator puts him on hold for 30 seconds, then returns and starts quizzing the alarm company rep on what he knows about the fire.

She asks if there are flames or smokes coming from the building, but the alarm company employee explains he didn't have that information.

“(The security guard) hung up right away,” he says.

The 911 dispatcher decides to send the firefighters to the scene. They arrived 15 minutes after the alarm first went off.

The coroner is going to be examining these calls to see if the response time was adequate.

The inquest, taking place in Riviere du Loup, is expected to last a few weeks.
