The Montreal Impact have traded midfielder Felipe Martins to the New York Red Bulls in exchange for left back Ambroise Oyongo and midfielder Eric Alexander.

Felipe was pulled aside by coach Frank Klopas ahead of practice and told he was headed to New York.

The 24-year-old Brazilian was a regular in the Montreal lineup since the team joined Major League Soccer three years ago.

Felipe had his best year in 2012 under coach Jesse Marsch, who now coaches the Red Bulls.

The Impact also received allocation money and an international player spot for the 2015 season while the Red Bulls got the first spot in the MLS allocation ranking.

Alexander is a 6'1" 26-year-old who scored two goals in 34 games last season. Oyongo, 23, is a 5'9" 150 lb speedster from Cameroon who failed to score in 13 outings last season.
