A massively-revamped Montreal Impact team will battle for a berth in the CONCACAF semi-final next Tuesday at the Olympic Stadium following a 2-2 sawoff in Mexico Tuesday.

The jovial Montreal Impact spent Wednesday on a plane back to Montreal from Mexico after the almost-unrecognizable squad scored two key away goals in the first leg of of a quarter-final match against Pachuca FC.

The aggregated game favours away goals so an Impact victory or even a tie at 0-0 or 1-1 would allow the Impact to advance.

Midfielder Dilly Duka found the back of the net twice as the Montreal Impact played to a 2-2 draw. Duka a 5'7" 25-year-old from New Jersey, made 14 appearances with the Impact after arriving from the Chicago Fire.

Duka drove past two Pachuca defenders and took a shot from just outside the penalty area in the 25th minute. He added his second of the match in the 53rd minute.

Pachuca's Ariel Nahuelpan Osten tied the game in the 68th minute. Heriberto Olvera scored on a free kick in the 57th to cut Montreal's lead to 2-1.

It was the opening match of the season for the Impact, who host Pachuca in the second leg of the quarter-final next week.

"We have a fresh team and it's a fresh start with a group of leaders with experience and young players," said Duka.

“For our first match in 2015, it’s a very good result. We played against a very good team and two goals scored on the road in Mexico are very good,” head coach Frank Klopas told the team’s website. “They did not know much about us before tonight, but it will be different in the second leg.”
