MONTREAL - The Montreal Canadiens announced Monday afternoon the acquisition of defenceman Jason DeSantis of the Florida Panthers in exchange for defenceman Brendon Nash.

DeSantis, 26, has played 32 games with the Hamilton Bulldogs and the San Antonio Rampage of the American Hockey League this season. He scored 11 points, including three goals, and served 22 penalty minutes.

Originally from Oxford, Michigan, and a product of the American minor hockey program, he played four seasons, from 2004 to 2008, with the Ohio State University Buckeyes, compiling a record of 60 points (16 goals, 44 assists) in 144 games.

Nash was acquired by the Canadiens as a free agent on March 30, 2010. He played two career games with the Habs in 2010-2011.
