The Montreal metro faced some problems Wednesday afternoon that led to the closure of an entire line for about an hour.
The green line was closed between Angrignon and Honore-Beaugrand at 4:25 p.m., after several other announcements from the STM that parts of the line were closed. The problems began at 4 p.m.
The STM blames an equipment problem. STM spokesperson Isabelle Tremblay said there was more than one problem. One problem related to smoke under a train at the Cadillac station. The STM rebooted the system and discovered another problem with the line's entire electrical system. They are still conducting a final report.
Service resumed at 5:05 p.m.
The breakdown resulted in some long lines awaiting buses.
Commuter Danielo Iannatuoni sent in the above photo of a very long line at Pie IX metro station at 3:45 p.m., where commuters were waiting for the 185 bus on Sherbrooke St. eastwards for over an hour, he said.
