Residents of Ile Perrot held a fundraiser Saturday to support a young single mother with four infant quadruplets.

They're four times the handful and four times adorable – Kate, Kim, Eva and Emma are six-month-old quadruplets.

The chances of conceiving quadruplets naturally are quite rare: 1 in 700,000, but Forget beat those odds, conceiving and delivering her four babies naturally and in good health.

After the father left the family this fall, 22-year-old Melina Forget has had four mouths to feed, and four diapers to change, all on her own.

“I'm thinking positively and my girls are so good, they’requiet, it's really good. But it's tough sometimes but it's good,” said Forget.

Forget’s aunt Ginette L’Heureux decided to help the struggling young mother, by renting out the Paul-Émile-Lépine Community Centre in Ile Perrot to put on a fundraiser.

“She doesn't have any car to put the four babies in, so we took some clothes, we took some money to buy a new van, a minivan. I'm so happy there are a lot of people coming,” she said.

Before giving birth, Forget was a student at Université de Montreal, but had to forego her studies to raise the quads full time.

The logistics and expenses are staggering.

“I'm so happy all the people came to see my girls and help me because it's a lot of work to do with four babies,” she said.

Multiply by four the cost of formula, diapers, toys and clothes. Forget's family hopes the event will help cover the expense.

Members of the community kept arriving all afternoon to show their support at a festive event, where the $15 entry included music, food, balloons and lots of photo ops with the girls.

Forget's aunt wasn't aiming for a dollar amount, she's just happy the community is rallying around the family.

“I love her. I love Melina very much because she's a good mother and she's a good person,” she said.

It's a lot of work but Forget has a positive attitude.

“No one can do it better than her. She's so great with the girls,” said L’Heureux. “I cannot do it better.”

When the quadruplets are older, Forget plans to return to school to finish her degree.
