What started out as as school project for a Dawson college student has garnered international attention.

Chris M. Forsyth's photographs of the Montreal metro system are a moving look at public transit.

"The objective is to show off the architecture and I really like to juxtapose the stillness with the movement inherent in the spaces, whether it be escalators or the train passing by," said Forsyth.

The images in the #mtlmetroproject blur the distinction of discrete items, turning individual cars into walls of colour.

They're available for all to view online, although people can buy individual prints of any item.

"Every now and then people ask if I'm taking photos of them, but people in the shot is not my motive," said Forsyth.

Forsyth uses a tripod and long exposures to create his signature look, and the people moving through the frame often disappear -- the result of post-picture editing to present a pristine, unsoiled image of a nearly 50-year transit system.

"There is a lot of editing that goes into it. If there's graffiti in the shot I try and remove it.
