MONTREAL -

Four police officers met with Montreal police investigators this week in connection with the beating of a Montreal police officer at a Mexican resort in January 2011. None of the four are facing any charges.

Longueuil police confirm that two officers were arrested by Montreal police on Wednesday for having an "inappropriate relationship" with known criminals. They have been suspended with pay.

The two men were in uniform, working in a police station in Longueuil when they were escorted out in handcuffs, much to the surprise of their colleagues.

The Montreal police are refusing to confirm whether the officers were arrested, but CTV Montreal has learned that one of the officers was suspended without pay and the other was reassigned.

While the force refuses to say why the men were taken into custody, they have been under a microscope for a year and a half because at least one of them attended a party at a resort in Playa del Carmen. Members of the Hell Angels and the West End Gang were also at the party.

A Montreal police officer, on vacation, may have witnessed their Longueuil colleagues at the party with the wrong crowd. After taking a picture of the event, the police officer was given a vicious, almost fatal, beating.

Since the incident, Montreal police have been investigating to discover why the beating took place and why the police officers were at the party with the bikers.

Two Montrealers are already facing trial: Shane Maloney, a man with connections to the West End Gang was arrested and charged with the beating, and the other is a Hells Angels subordinate, Marc-Andre Lachance.

Montreal police have yet to issue a comment, saying only that an investigation is underway.
