The family of a missing Trois-Rivieres girl has enlisted the help of flamboyant defense lawyer Guy Bertrand, who is offering a $170,000 reward to help crack the case.

Cedrika Provencher went missing in July of 2007, triggering a police investigation and a massive search that has so far led nowhere.

Bertrand told a news conference in Trois-Rivieres Tuesday that he'll gather information and take anonymous tips for the next several months, at no charge.

It's part of an investigation launched by Cedrika's parents that's independent of the police and the province.

Bertrand says he hopes to speak with witnesses, people who know the presumed kidnappers and even the kidnappers themselves.  He says anyone who provides him with information can do so anonymously and will not be handed over to authorities.

"I am certain that among those of you watching today ... there is someone somewhere who knows something about Cedrika's kidnapping and wants to talk," Bertrand said.

"But you don't know what to do or who to confide in. You don't even know if you have rights and what those rights are."

Bertrand has given himself until September 30 to achieve his goals.
