A five-year-old boy is in hospital after falling from a duplex’s second-story window in St. Leonard on Saturday afternoon.

The incident happened at 2:30 p.m. on D’Assise near Nice. Police said the child's life is not in danger.

The child landed on concrete below the window, suffering a fractured skull, fractured pelvis and lacerations. He was conscious when he was brought to hospital.

Police are investigating how the boy got up to the window and pushed the screen off.

Last summer, a child suffered serious injuries after falling from a fifth floor window in Longueuil. Safety experts recommend parents secure locks and window guards if young children are around.
