The family of a McMasterville woman who has been missing for over 40 days is pleading for the public’s help to find her.

Deborah Laurent-Gervais, 57, was last seen at 12:45 p.m. Nov. 30 at her home in McMasterville, 30 kilometres east of Montreal near Mont-Saint-Hilaire.

Her disappearance was reported to police on Dec. 5.

The woman has gone missing once before, but returned after 10 days. This time her family is losing hope.

Every day, Tina Gervais and her uncle look at a Facebook page they have created for her missing mother, afraid of what news they may receive.

Laurent-Gervais left her home without her purse, wallet or bank card.

“Anything could have happened soI'm very concerned,” said Gervais.

The missing woman’s husband said he called her at home during his lunch hour on Nov. 30, and they had a brief and normal conversation. No one in the family has seen or heard from her since.

“He waited a little bit, thought maybe she's gone to the store and ever since then she never came home,” said Gervais.

The missing woman’s husband of 36 years only told the family of her disappearance on Dec. 5 because she had disappeared once before, in the fall of 2013, when she left their then-home in Greenfield Park for 10 days.

She had spent the time away eating in fast food restaurant and lived on neighbouring vacant land.

“At that point she said that she needed to clear her head, she was having a bit of stressful situations in her life and whatever and she just needed some time alone to think,” said Gervais.

After her mother came home, Gervais said her parents moved to McMasterville and things seemed well again until her recent disappearance.

The family and local police have posted her mother's picture around McMasterville and neighbouring towns. Police have searched along the riverbanks of the nearby Richelieu River and train tracks.

Her brother Rick Laurent said the family is now hoping that by coming forward, someone who might find a trace of the woman will come forward.

“We’re looking for anything at all,” he said.

Debbie Laurent-Gervais is 1.55 metres (5’1”) tall and weighs about 73 kilograms (160 lbs).

She is Caucasian with medium-length brown hair and brown eyes. She speaks English.

At the time of her disappearance, she was mid-length wine red coat with a hood, black jeans and black sneakers. She was on foot.

Anyone with information about the disappearance or whereabouts of Laurent-Gervais is urged to call (450) 536-3333 ext. 1.
