Another alleged victim has come forward to accuse former Alpine Canada coach Bertrand Charest of sexually assaulting her.

Charest is now facing 57 charges involving 12 women who were between 12 and 19 at the time of the alleged assaults, which are said to have occurred between 1991 and 1998.

The alleged incidents took place during ski competitions all over the world. The newest charges stem from an alleged incident in Whistler, B.C.

A publication ban has been placed on the evidence presented at the hearing.

Alpine Canada has told CTV Montreal that Charest was hired as a coach for the women's development team in 1996, but was suspended in 1998 when it was "advised by a source that Mr. Charest may have engaged in inappropriate contact with a female member of the team."

The organization said they began an investigation into the complaint and immediately suspended Charest as a coach. Charest resigned a few days later.

Alpine Canada also said it was in contact with the RCMP about the case, but were not told the results of its investigation.

Charest, 49, was arrested in early March and has been detained ever since. He denied bail March 20.

He will be back in court next month to appeal the bail decision.
