Eighty firefighters needed about six hours to quell an industrial blaze at Prefontaine and Adam in the Hochelaga-Maisonneuve district Sunday morning.
The three-alarm fire erupted due to a faulty electrical transformer at about 2:50 a.m. at the Lallemand yeast plant at 1620 Prefontaine, leaving about $150,000 in damage.
Firefighters only left the scene at about 9 a.m.
Nobody was injured but some neighbours were evacuated.
Lallemand Inc. was founded at the end of the 19th century.
