Didier Drogba is excited to take the field with the Impact, but it’s still not clear when the star striker will make his debut.

At a press conference at Saputo Stadium on Thursday evening, Drobga said that while he wants to hit the field as soon as possible, he needs some time to train with the team before fans will see him in action.

Drogba signed a $4.5-million, 18-month contract with the club, but he’s not letting the money get to him.

“I just want to say, no pressure,” Drogba joked.

The excitement the Impact feel about Drogba isn’t just about the goals he’ll score, but what he brings off the pitch, said Head Coach Frank Klopas.

“Every year when we get together we try to put a team together and discuss the kind of qualities and characteristics we look for when we bring in players to our club,” he said. “It goes without saying we look at the most important thing, the quality they bring on the field. But second, it’s very important to us the character, the human being we bring into our club, into our family.”
