Montreal transit employees are protesting a plan to slash the number of ticket booth attendants at local metro stations.

The plan, according to the union, would lead to empty booths at such stations as De l'Eglise (east entrance), Guy Concordia (west), Peel (east), McGill (east), Place des Arts (west), Du College (south), Plamondon (north), Place d'Armes (west ) and Henri-Bourassa (west).

The metro workers distributed pamphlets Tuesday morning in an effort to raise attention to their plight, which they say could leave passengers who need help in a vulnerable position.

The Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) will hold a demonstration in front of the offices of the STM at 800 de la Gauchetière West at 1 p.m.
