Fire swept through a semi-detached duplex in Dollard-des-Ormeaux Friday afternoon.

It started on the first floor of the White Oak St. building around noon and spread to the upper floor.

Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the building where it originated. It took an hour for the fire to be extinguished.

Four families were evacuated, and two have been forced to relocate for an undetermined length of time.

The damage to the building where the blaze began is estimated at $100,000.

The fire appears to have been accidental.
