A 33-year-old woman was rushed to hospital in critical condition Friday morning after she ran into a truck while on her bicycle.

Police say the cyclist and the flatbed truck were both heading south on St. Urbain St. at 9:40 a.m. when the truck made a righthand turn onto De Maisonneuve Ave.

The cyclist could not stop in time and ran into the back of the truck, then slipped under the wheels of the vehicle.

She was taken to hospital where she was initially listed as being in critical condition but early in the afternoon the young woman's condition was upgraded to stable.

Police say they will use surveillance camera footage to piece together what happened.
