An 18-year-old cyclist has succumbed to his injuries after being hit by a heavy truck in Lachine Monday afternoon.
Tyrell Sterling was struck at 3:30 p.m. when the truck, heading north on Saint-Pierre Ave. turned right on Berge du Canal St., said Montreal police spokesperson Simon Delorme.
He was transported to hospital where he fought for his life for several hours before dying.
Unaware he had hit the victim, the truck driver continued to drive about 500 metres before a witness flagged him down to stop.
Police are investigating.
