A 23-year-old man was charged Monday in connection with the murder of an internationally respected makeup artist.

Jean-Philippe Tremblay was arrested in Alma last Friday, following a four-year search for the people responsible for the 2009 death of Pina Rizzi.

He was charged with first-degree murder.

Rizzi, 47, was last seen leaving Saphir Bar on St. Laurent Blvd. with three men early in the morning on Aug. 2, 2009. Her body was found two days later behind a shed on Notre Dame St. East near Frontenac St.

Her body had been burned and wrapped in a carpet. Police have not said if she was killed at that location, or if her body was moved there following her death.

At the time police said they were looking for two men in their mid-twenties and a man in his mid-forties. Those men were never located.

Rizzi worked in the movie industry, on both Quebec productions and Hollywood feature films.

Tremblay is known as a father of several young children who has lived in Alma for some time.
