The Surete du Quebec and the province’s snowmobilers’ association are calling for caution because of icy rivers that have become weak due to days of fluctuating temperatures.
According to the Federation des Clubs de Motoneigistes du Quebec, it's best to avoid any lakes and rivers where the ice has lost some of its thickness.
Parts of some trails that cross streams have also been closed as a precaution.
Eight snowmobilers have died in Quebec since the beginning of the season.
