DRUMMONDVILLE - A deadly car surfing stunt in Drummondville has landed a 20-year-old woman a 90 day jail sentence.
Jessyca Gauthier, 20, (sometimes spelled Jessyka Gauthier) plead guilty to a charge of dangerous driving causing death, after her friend Gabrielle Dionne, 17, died in a car surfing session on July 27, 2009.
Dionne fell after being perched on the trunk of the vehicle. She hit her head, suffered fractures to the skull and spine and fell into a coma before dying four days later.
Gauthier was 18-years-old at the time of the incident.
Gauthier's sentence includes an obligation to perform 240 hours of community work and bans her from driving for two years.
She will be permitted to serve her time on weekends, according to the sentence handed down in Drummondville Friday.
