Two men were killed Monday by a deadly car crash in the Laurentians.
It happened at 8:30 p.m on Route 131 in St. Felix de Valois, about 80 km north of Montreal.
A man, in his fifties and driving an SUV, attempted to make a left-hand turn into a parking lot but drove into the path of an oncoming car which could not avoid the collision.
The impact demolished the front of the car and knocked the SUV off the road and onto a lawn. The driver of the SUV was mortally wounded and died in hospital, as did a 33-year-old man sitting in the back seat of the car.
The two people in the front of the car were badly hurt but are still alive.
Surete du Quebec officers closed Route 131 for eight hours while they investigated the crash and tried to determine what happened.
They are waiting for autopsy results to determine if the driver who caused the crash had been drinking alcohol.
