Captain Kirk & Cmdr Hadfield holding out of this world videocall

William Shatner and real-life space station Commander Chris Hadfield Chris Hadfield will have a one-on-one chat at 10:30 a.m. Thursday.

Shatner, whose role as starship Captain James T. Kirk has inspired generations of astronauts and would-be starfarers, first made contact with the Canadian astronaut on Twitter.

The Canadian Space Agency then reached out to the Montreal-born actor and offered him the chance for a ten-minute videocall.

Hadfield is currently on a five-month mission to the International Space Station, and has been tweeting multiple pictures of the Earth.

In mid-March Hadfield will become the first Canadian commander of the ISS.
