The Montreal Canadiens have inaugurated their seventh outdoor refrigerated rink, this one in Laval.

The Children's Foundation arm of the hockey team paid $1.4 million to build the rink in Emile Park off Cartier Blvd.

On Monday morning, the Canadiens took to the rink for its official inauguration, one week after the public began skating on the ice.

The team was joined by many young children who thoroughly enjoyed their chance to skate with professional NHL players.

The city of Laval will now maintain the rink, which is expected to cost $200,000 per year.

Geoff Molson, the president of the Canadiens, said the ice on the Bleu Blanc Bouge rinks is much better that what he played on at LCC as a teen.

He added is his happy to give back to the community across Montreal and Quebec.

Next year the Canadiens will build their eighth rink, this time in Sherbrooke.
