The next phase of work to transform the Bonaventure expressway into an urban boulevard begins Friday.

The highway will be closed as of 10 p.m. Friday evening while crews rearrange traffic lanes and shut exits.

Starting Monday, the two entrances to the Ville Marie Expressway East from Duke St. and from the Bonaventure Expressway will be closed until November.

Duke will also be closed between William St. and St. Jacques Blvd. while only two lanes will be open between Wellington St. and William St.

One lane of southbound traffic will be reserved for buses only: no taxis, car-pools, or any other vehicles allowed.

The city wants the work complete by Montreal's 375th anniversary next year.
