A boil water advisory for Chateauguay and Longueuil was lifted on Sunday morning.

The warnings first went out to Chateauguay residents on Wednesday, and to those living in Longueuil on Thursday.

On Friday afternoon both municipalities said the water samples were still contaminated, and so people would have to continue boiling their water, likely throughout the weekend.

In a post on the city's Facebook page on Sunday morning, Chateauguay officials said residents would no longer have to boil potable water and that tests of the city's water supply met provincial government standards.

At 11:30 a.m., an advisory on the city of Longueuil's web page told residents that advisory was no longer in effect.
