A body was found by a Canadian Coast Guard patrol in the St. Lawrence River on Friday morning.

Upon finding the human remains near Pointe-Aux-Trembles, the SPVM was alerted. The body was recovered by the Coast Guard and taken to Montreal’s forensic science and forensic medicine laboratory to determine the victim’s identity and cause of death.

According to the SPVM, it appears the body had been in the river for an extended period of time before it was discovered.
