Bob Dylan, Buddy Guy, King Crimson, Feist, Melissa Etheridge, Nora Jones and the O’Jays are just a few of the artists who will make appearances at this summer’s edition of theMontreal International Jazz Festival.
Canadian talent will also be on display, with performances by songwriters Feist and Ron Sexsmith.
Montrealers The Barr Brothers and Men Without Hats will also play concerts during the festival, which will run from June 28 to July 8.
La La Land, the six-time Oscar-winning smash hit film about a struggling jazz musician, will get a stage adaptation featuring a live symphony orchestra, L’Orchestre Metropolitain.
After 38 years of music, the Jazz Fest is always updating itself, said co-founder Andre Menard.
“The reinvention of the festival comes with the artists who have new projects and we have new artists all the time. This year we have quite many new artists, many from the U.K. that has an ebullient scene right now in London,” he said.
Some of the shows will be interesting double bills, including Etheridge and Joss Stone, and Guy and Steve Hill.
This fest is not just jazz, and includes talent of every type.
“I’m going to combine three different genres into an epic night and it's going to be really different and I’m really looking forward to it,” said one of the performers, Daniel Clarke Bouchard.
