Quebec’s Bureau of Independent Investigations is determining what led to a police shooting in Montreal North.

Montreal police spokesperson Daniel Lacoursiere only said that it appears one or multiple shots were fired at Arthur-Chevrier St. and Langelier Blvd.

However the BEI confirmed that police shot a person at least once.

The incident began when plainclothed officers attempted to pull over a vehicle which was under surveillance.

The driver of that vehicle instead sped towards the unmarked police car, and an officer on foot fired at the vehicle, striking the passenger.

The vehicle then crashed into a marked police car.

The BEI called in the Sureté du Quebec to secure the scene and to conduct preliminary investigations, with two crime scene specialists and one crash investigator in place to supervise.
