A 17-year-old boy accused of the second-degree murder of 17-year-old Darius Brown made a brief court appearance Monday.

Because of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, the accused cannot be named, and the name of the victim can only be published with parental consent.

The incident took place Thursday in what police first said was the attempted robbery of a 19-year-old woman on Westover Rd. in Cote Saint Luc.

Police initially said Darius fell and hit his head, leading to his death in hospital, but on Friday police said they believed another 17-year-old boy was responsible for the death.

The suspect was charged on Saturday and a request for bail made on Monday was postponed until Thursday.
