An anti-capitalism group said it is making plans to disrupt Canada Day as much as possible on Saturday, with a focus on attacking symbols of “Canadian colonialism.”

On its website, CLAC said its “Anti-Canada Day” plans will begin at Place d’Armes at 11:00 a.m.

The website said plans include stealing Canada and Quebec flags from government buildings and burning them.

CLAC denounced the 150th celebrations, saying the history of the country is marked by “colonialism, imperialism and racism.” The group said Canada was stolen by European settlers from Aboriginal people who had lived there for millennia, in order to appropriate natural resources to enrich the monarchs of France and England.
