The Alouettes have a new quarterback, having signed Drew Willy to a one-year contract on Monday.

It’s expected that the 30-year-old Willy will back up Darian Durant. The longtime Saskatchewan Roughrider signed with the Als in January.

Willy has played five seasons in the CFL, most recently with the Toronto Argonauts. In 76 career games, including 37 starts, the former Buffalo University player completed 727 of his 1,085 pass attempts, throwing for 8,539 yards and 39 touchdowns. He’s also rushed for 697 yards and six touchdowns.

Before joining the Argonauts, the Randolph, NJ native made stops in Saskatchewan and Winnipeg in the CFL and was a member of the roster for the Baltimore Ravens, Indianapolis Colts, New York  Jets and San Diego Chargers in the NFL.

Willy joined his new teammates for a training session on Monday.

On Monday, the team also announced the additions of defensive back Willy Dorcin to the training squad and the release of receiver Alex Charette.
