Agriculture Minister Pierre Paradis is taking time off work after suffering a concussion.

Paradis, an avid equestrian, was riding a horse earlier this week when he fell and struck his head.

A spokesperson for the minister said Paradis suffered a "light" concussion, and did not break any bones.

Paradis will see his doctor again on Friday.

Transportation Minister Laurent Lessard will handle his duties in his absence.

Paradis is 66 years old, and has represented the riding of Brome-Missisquoi since 1980.
