Two Montreal police officers have been ordered to pay a well-known activist $15,000.

Jaggi Singh was arrested during a women's day protest on March 8, 2007 and detained for five days.

A year later the charges were dropped.

Singh sued the arresting officers Frederic Mercier and Georges Lamirande for wrongful arrest and detention, as well as lawyer Paul Rouillard for his role in the process.

Singh had asked for $82,000 in moral and punitive damages.
